If your 980s are double slot gpus and won't ever occupy the 3rd x16 slot, then there is not much to worry about.
Is this M.2 slot PCIe 3.0 compatible? Because in the BIOS, I can set the associated PCIe slot to 3.0. I only noticed this recently after upgrading my CPU to the 6950X.
